Tessner Genrikh Genrikhovich (1872-?)
Russian artist, landscape painter. From 1895 to 1902, he studied at the Academy of Arts. In 1902, he received his diploma in painting and was allowed to go abroad for his painting Twilight.
Ermilova-Platova Efrosiniya Fedoseevna (1895-1974)
From 1914 to 1918, she studied at K.Yuon and I.Dudin's School of Painting and Drawing, followed by I.Mashkov's Studio from 1917 to 1918. From 1911, she exhibited in many solo shows. Her works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, art museums of Yaroslavl, Nukus, Novy Jerusalem and other museums.
Kirsanov Mikhail Gerasimovich (1891-1958)
Russian painter. At the age of 13, he made his home in the family of V.М. Vasnetsov. He was involved in painting and drawing. In 1906, he joined the College of Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow. Tretyakov Gallery's scholar. He attended V.A.Serov and K.A.Korovin portraiture course. In 1913, he earned the highest degree in arts from the college. From 1914, he was a court painter. He exhibited in many shows of the Peredvizhniks, the Union of Russian Artists etc. His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many local museums.
Popova Lidiya Viktorovna (1903-1951)
Moscow female artist. From 1919 to 1924, she studied at the Department of Graphic Arts at the VKhUTEMAS (Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops) with А.А. Exter. Upon graduation, she worked mainly as poster painter and illustrator for the Gosizdat and the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing houses. Simultaneously, she started exhibiting her works. In 1924, she joined the Moscow Professional Union of Artists. From 1933, she was a member of the Association of the Artists of Russia and Moscow Union of Artists. In 1945, she married P.P. Sokolov-Skal. Following their marriage, they held a two-artist show. In 1946, she was awarded the Medal for the Defense of Moscow. She died in Moscow in 1951.
Falk Robert Rafailovich (1886-1958)
Russian painter and graphic artist, whose oeuvre is a mixture of the Russian Art Moderne and Avant-Garde. He kept to the traditions of the "Russian Cezannism". He attended K.F.Yuon, I.O. Dudin, and I.I.Mashkov's art schools and studios (1904-1905), studied with K.A.Korovin and V.A.Serov at the Moscow School of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture. He lived mostly in Moscow and, between 1928 and 1938, in Paris. During the Great Patriotic War, between 1941 and 1943, he lived in Bashkiria and the Central Asia. He was a co-founder of the Knave of Diamonds Society (1910-1917), exhibitor and member of the World of Art Association (1911-1917, 1921, 1922), the Association of Moscow Painters (1925), the Association of Moscow Artists (1925-1928), the Association of Artists of the Revolutionary Russia (1925-1928). Falk was an equally good portrait, landscape, still-life and scene painter.
Zabelina Alexandra (1909-1993)
She was born in Tver. In 1932, she graduated from the Moscow College of Arts. In 1953, she joined the studio of the noted watercolourist Arthur Fonvizin and soon was among his best pupils and loyal followers. In 1958, A. Zabelina had her first solo show in Moscow. From then on, she actively exhibited. Her works can be found in the collections of museums and private collections in Russia, the US, Belgium, France, Denmark, the UK and other countries.
Favorsky Vladimir Andreevich (1886-1964)
Drawer, scene designer, mural painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1963), full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1962). He studied at K.F.Yuon's private school, Moscow (1898-1905), S.Hollosy's private academy, Munich (1906-07), while studying art history at the University of Munich. From 1910 to 1913, he attended the studio of K.Kish, a pupil of Hollosy, in Moscow, simultaneously studying at the Department of History and Philology at the Moscow University (1907-13). From 1909, he actively practiced woodcutting, striving to organise types, headpieces, illustrations into graphic and stylistic unity to make the book uniformely designed ("Les opinions de Jerome Coignard" by A.France, 1918 etc). In 1918 and 1819, he worked with the Puppet Theatre. From 1920 to 1930, he served as head of the Chair of Xylography at the Department of Graphic Art at the VKhUTEMAS (Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops)-VKhUTEIN (Higher Art and Technical Institution) and wrote major treatises on art theory: "Lectures on Art Composition Theory" (1921-22), "Type, Classification of Types and the Connection Between Illustrations and Types" (1925) etc. Between 1922 and 1928, he was a member of the Chetyre Iskusstva ['Four Arts'] Association of Artists. In 1930, he became a full professor at the Institute of Printing, from 1934 to 1938 he was a full professor at the Institute of Fine Arts. In 1933, he became engaged in scenic design ("The Twelfth Night" by W. Shakespeare at the 2nd Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT)), while actively doing mural painting and striving to naturally combine it with architecture (wall-paintings in the Fashion House, 1935, no longer extant; scene portal of the Central Theatre of the Soviet Army, 1951). He was the designer of the books "Dante. Vita nova" (1934) and "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" by W. Shakespeare (1941). Between 1942 and 1948, he was a full professor at the Chair of Ceramics at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Art. Favosrky's works from the 1950s, "The Lay Of The Warfare Waged By Igor" (1952), A.S.Pushkin's "Boris Godunov" (1956) and "Little Tragedies" (1961; Lenin Prize, 1962), proved to be top-level achievements in the Russian book design.
Vitukhnovskaya Sophia Semenovna (1912-2000)
Russian watercolourist, graphic artist. From 1929 to 1932, she studied at the School of Fine Art with А.Reznikov, А.Shchipitsin, V.Rutsai. In the early 1930s, she was a member of several art studios of Moscow. From 1936, Vitukhnovskaya attended S.Gerasimov and B. Johanson's art workshops. In 1938, she had a two-artist show with H.Sandler in Komsomolsk-upon-Amur. In 1940, she joined the Union of Artists of Russia. Works by S. Vitukhnovskaya are in the collections of over 40 Russian museums.
Yakusheva Alexandra Ivanovna (1900 - 1986)
She studied at the Department of Painting at the VKhUTEMAS (Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops) with R.R. Falk, А.D.Drevin, К.N. Istomin, S.V. Gerasimov (1920-1930). From 1928, she exhibited in numerous group and solo shows at home and abroad. In 1932, she joined the Moscow Organization of the Union of Soviet Artists and became chairman of the Vsekokhudozhnik cooperative's Commission. Yakusheva's works are featured in many Russian museums.
Morozov Konstantin Fedorovich (b. 1894)
Graphic artist, member of the Union of Artists, Honoured Cultural Worker of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, associate professor.
Orlov Boris Gerasimovich (b. 1925)
Painter. Member of the Union of Artists since 1957. He has exhibited in numerous Moscow, republic-wide, all-Union and international art shows. His works are in the collections of Russian museums and private collections alike.
Andrianov Petr Nikolaevich (1916 - 1996)
Painter, member of the Union of Artists. He was born in Moscow. In 1948, he received his diploma from the V.I.Surikov State Institute of Arts, where he had studied with I. E. Grabar, S. V. Gerasimov. The painter worked in a wide variety of genres including portrait, landscape, and still-life. Works by P. Andrianov are featured in the collections of the Novosibirsk Regional Art Gallery, the Tula Art Gallery, private collections at home and abroad (in UK, France, Germany).

Yakushevsky Stanislav Faustinovich (1922-2000)
People's Artist of Russia. He received his diploma from the I.E.Repin Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture. From 1950, he lived and was active in Ryazan, being a pioneer of the Ryazan school of modern painting. He worked in a variety of genres. S. Yakushevsky created historical paintings dealing with revolutionary themes (portraits of М. А. Ulianova, F. E. Dzerzhinsky, lacemaker Diana Smirnova), a series of landscapes depicting the Ryazan land (including the places closely connected with the distinguished Russian poet S.Esenin's life and oeuvre) and other remote places of the Central Russia. The famous canvas Sergey Esenin ranks among the best Russian paintings. S. Yakushevsky's works can be found in the collections of the Ryazan Regional Museum of Art, the State Memorial Estate of S. А. Esenin.

Krapivin Nikolai Nikitich (1927-1997)
Honoured artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, chairman of the Moscow Region Union of Artists. In 1958, N. Krapivin received his diploma from the V.I.Surikov Institute, where he had attended V.P.Efanov's workshop. His degree work Hay-Mowing was featured in the All-Union exhibition on the 40th anniversary of the Leninist Young Communist League of the Soviet Union, and it was published in the Ogonek Magazine. From 1952, N.N.Кrapivin had numerous art exhibitions, traveled a lot both at home and abroad, creating sets of paintings: Moscow Region, Traveling in Belorussia, Vladivostok, North. Krasnoyarsk Territory, Indonesia. His works are in the collections of Russian museums (the State Tretyakov Gallery and regional museums). They can be found in private collections at home and abroad too.
Steinhartz Yury Davidovich (b. 1944)
Drawer, painter. Member of the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists, International Helsinki Federation, Creative Union of the Artists of Russia (UNESCO). From 1961 to 1963, he studied at the V.I.Surikov Moscow State Institute of Arts. He has exhibited in various shows at home and abroad. His works are in the collections of the town of Borisoglebsk, Leon Rosenfeld Gallery, Paris, Arctic Gallery, Murmansk, Stig Tobiassen Gallery, Norway, the gallery of the city of Nicosia, Cyprus, in private collections at home amd abroad.
Melnikov Nikolai Maximovich (1916 - 1994)
He fought in the Great Patriotic War (1941-45) in landing troops and was awarded numerous orders and medals, including the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class. Between 1946 and 1952, he studied at the Moscow Municipal Art Studio for the Disabled Veterans of the Great Patriotic War with М. Dobroserdov, G. Zeitlin, S. Tutunov, I. Gurchin. He was advised by P. P. Konchalovsky and V. К. Byalynitsky-Birulya. In 1969, he became a member of the Union of Artists and began exhibiting at numerous shows. He went on many trips to gather material for his creative work throughout his artistic career. He went to Gurzuf, Goryachy Kluch and Creative Arts Centre in Vyshny Volochek. In 1993, works by N. М. Melnikov were sold at four auctions in Paris, including the one held at the Hotel Drouot. The permanent collection of his works is featured in one of the private galleries of New York City under the auspices of the Governor of New York State.

Isaev Alexander Pavlovich (b. 1930)
Honoured artist of Russia, member of the Union of Artists. Upon graduation from the Abramtsevo College of Art, he joined the Zagorsk Arts and Crafts Workshop's creative team. He is still working with the team. Chairman of the Union of Artists of the towns of Sergiev Posad, Khotkovo, Pushkin. Isaev's brushwork was maturing in the 1950 and 1960s, which were a difficult period for the art. He was guided by such famous Soviet artists as V. М. Baksheev, P. А. Radimov, I. I. Bakshai, F. Monailo. Alexander Isaev kept to the realistic traditions of the Russian Fine Arts. His favourite subject is the environs of Moscow, their inhabitants, their habitat and nature. His paintings are always a serious story about the beauty of Russian nature and people, their everyday life and their holidays. The artist has had a few solo shows in his homeland, he has exhibited in international shows in Japan, Germany, USA. His works can be found in the collections of the State Russian Museum, the Museum of the town of Khotkovo, the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius. They are featured in Russian and foreign private collections too.
Labas Alexander Arkadievich (1900-1983)
He attended V.I. Mushletov's Art Studio, Smolensk (1908), Stroganov Central College of Art and Industry (1912), F.I.Rerberg and I.I.Mashkov's studios, Moscow (1915-1916), he also studied at the State Free Art Workshops with P.P. Konchalovsky (1917), at the VKhUTEMAS (Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops) with D.P. Sterenberg (1922-1924). He exhibited from 1921. In 1925, he became a founding member of the Stankovist Society. In 1924, he was a professor at the VKhUTEMAS, followed by the N.K.Krupskaya Communist Academy, Moscow in 1926.

Gerasimova Galina Alexandrovna (1918-1979)
Russian female artist, daughter of the noted Soviet painter Gerasimov, member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. She studied painting and drawing under the guidance of her father's friends, co-members of the Academy of Art (V. N. Meshkov, People's Artist of Russia, member of the Academy of Art of the USSR). In 1942, she joined the Moscow Association of Artists. In war-time, her works could be seen in the show-cases of the Show-Room on Kuznetsky Most Street, Moscow, alongside of the TASS Windows war posters. She was written about in national newspapers, postcards with copies of her still lives with flowers and fruits were published in thousands.
Ivanov-Churonov Mikhail Fedorovich (1907 - 1984)
Honoured Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, painter and fine art restorer, member of the Union of Artists. He studied at the art studio in the town of Sapozhok with Z.S. Shmelev (1925-1928), followed by the Ryazan Art Teachers' Training College where he studied with А. S. Syrov (1934-1936). He exhibited from 1928. Between 1936 and 1970, he was a fine art restorer at the Tretyakov Gallery, making a substantial contribution to the development of fine art restoration. In 1961, М. F. Ivanov-Churonov was conferred the title of the top-level fine art restorer. М. F. Ivanov-Churonov had his first one-artist show in Moscow in 1978. His works are featured in the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery.

Time-Blok Marina Georgievna (1913-1999)
Russian female artist from Saint Petersburg, noblewoman, Russian poet Alexander Blok's niece. She graduated from the Bestuzhev Higher Courses for Women. Time-Blok took drawing lessons with Alexander Benois. She taught artistic skill at the Academy of Art school and V.Serov Higher School of Art. She was the teacher of the noted watercolourist I. Maiorov. She had her first one-artist show in Leningrad in 1940. She exhibited in more than 40 all-Union, republic-wide and international shows. In 1999 and 2001, two posthumous shows were held in Moscow. Time-Blok's works has been sold at many leading world auctions in the West (see reference book 18th to 20th Century Russian Artists by Soloviev V.D., p. 343 (1994 edition), p. 557 (1996 edition).
Karasev Viktor Grigorievich (1919-1996)
He was born in the town of Morshansk, Tambov region. He graduated from the Penza College of Art, where he had attended I.S. Goryushkin-Sorokopudov's workshop. He taught at the Morshansk School of Art. He had numerous shows at the Regional Art Gallery and Museum of Morshansk. His works are featured in private collections.

Borisov Vladimir Andreevich (b. 1932)
Painter. He studied with his brother, Nikolai Borisov. He held several solo shows in Moscow. His works can be found in private collections at home and abroad.
Borisov Nikolai Andreevich (1925 -2001)
Landscape painter. He had a few one-artist shows. The main subject matter of his paintings is the nature of the environs of Moscow. His works are in the collections of several Moscow museums and in private collections at home and abroad (in Poland, Hungary, Great Britain, the US).
Orlov Vladimir Evgenievich (b. 1950)
Member of the International Federation of Artists, son of the well-known Moscow artist Е. N. Orlov. In the 1990s, he exhibited in several solo shows in Russia and internationally. His works are featured in private collections in the US, Germany, the Netherlands, Bulgaria.
Izumrudov Valery Sergeevich (b. 1945)
Painter. Member of the Union of Artists. He studied under the guidance of V. G. Tsyplakov and А. М. Dubinchik. He has exhibited in numerous shows at home and abroad.
Bakharev Alexander Sergeevich (b. 1950)
Painter. Member of the Union of Artists. Full professor at the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts.
